Young people from the Center for Quality of Life Improvement Learn about Coral Reefs with the Story “Pepe and Lulo’s Dream”

June 15, 2018

The Sea Grant Program of the University of Puerto Rico conducted an activity for participants from the Center for Quality of Life Improvement (CEMECAV) of the Mayagüez Association of Persons with Disabilities. This activity took place by invitation from the staff of this center on Friday, June 15, 2018. During the activity, participants had the opportunity to learn about the coral reef ecosystem through the reading of the story “Pepe and Lulo’s Dream.” These young people, ranging in age from 22 to 40 and having intellectual disabilities, form a beautiful group. They enjoyed the story, wore masks of the characters, and acted out the adventures of the crab Pepe and all his coastal friends. It was a unique experience for both them and us. We appreciate CEMECAV for giving us the opportunity to visit and share this special moment with them. Continue with your commendable work!
