Estudiantes de la Escuela Manuel García Pérez
On Thursday, May 31st, 2018, the Manuel García Pérez High School in Rincón undertook their Academic Recognition Day. During this event, graduating students were rewarded for their excellent academic development through the school year and their work in different areas of their communities. As part of this activity, several agencies such as Emergency Management, the National Guard, the Triunfadores Rincoeños Youth Co-op and several universities and institutes such as the Catholic University, the Metropolitan University, National College, and many others gathered to award prizes to the students who were outstanding for their volunteer work for these institutions. The University of Puerto Rico Sea Grant Program was also there to acknowledge the good works done by several students who arduously worked to conserve and protect the Tres Palmas Marine Reserve in Rincón. The students receiving recognition were Néstor Rivera, Cristalis Luciano and Deyaneira Rivera Altieri. These students belong to the Ecological Tourism Student Group (CETE, by its Spanish acronym), and with their group, they dedicated their time and effort to promoting this vitally important Reserve and its protection. They showed impressive social commitment and great environmental consciousness. They worked hard and left, without a doubt, their own mark on the Reserve. This is only the beginning of many other achievements these enterprising students will surely win. The important thing is to set goals and, using your dedication, effort and discipline, work hard until you reach those goals. We know these students have what it takes. We wish them the best of luck. Onwards!
